Stylistic Figures Expressed Through Persian Izafet Constructions in the Novel by Halit Ziya Uşakligil Ferdi Ve Şürekâsi

Abstract

This paper examines the use of stylistic figures expressed through Persian izafet constructions in the novel Ferdi ve Şürekâsı by Halit Ziya Uşaklıgil. The aim of the research is to identify stylistic figures that appear in the form of izafet constructions of Persian origin and to indicate their function within the text. A particular objective of the study is to recognize Persian izafet constructions as fundamental grammatical patterns through which textual figurativeness is achieved, thereby making such fi-gurativeness the dominant stylistic feature of the text. For the purposes of this study analytical and comparative methods of scientific research were employed. Numerous stylistic figures were identified in the form of Persian izafet, such as metaphor, personification, hyperbole and others. It was concluded that figurative expressions in the novel are largely realized through the use of izafet constructions of Persian origin and that their primary function is aesthetic.
