Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences in Tuzla was founded in 1993 with the reorganization of the Teacher’s Education Academy. Teacher’s Education Academy had been a member of the University of Tuzla, since it was founded in 1976 and before that, since 1961 it went by the names of Teacher’s Education Junior College and Teacher’s Education College. Since the establishment of the Teacher’s Education College to date this educational unit has taught a set of courses in the field of humanities, social, natural and technical sciences. At the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences students acquire education in the field of humanities and social sciences, and the field of lifelong learning. Knowledge exchange, research activity and creative cooperation aim to achieve excellence in teaching and learning, while cooperation with related institutions help develop the intellectual, human, cultural and economic resources to achieve strategic goals and core values of the academia: open-mindedness, progress, mobility, creativity, critical approach, cooperation and unity. The mission of the Faculty is to educate students to develop the community, raise awareness and education level of the citizens, increase competitiveness in the field of humanities, social and pedagogical sciences at national and regional levels, improve the curricula to achieve the mobility of the teaching staff and students, and achieve international recognition of all three cycles of studies, as well as other forms of education and training. The Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences fully encourages students to develop effective learning skills and participate in research and development of professional knowledge and skills.
