Life Satisfaction Among Students in Relation to Gender and Self-assessed Creativity

Ljubica Dragišić, Zlatko Pavlović

Abstract

The paper presents the results of a study conducted on a sample of 392 students, with the aim of examining differences in life satisfaction among students across groups formed by combining the criteria of gender and self-assessed creativity. Differences in life satisfaction based on gender were also analyzed, as well as the interaction between gender and self-assessments of creativity in relation to life satisfaction. The results indicate no significant differences in life satisfaction between male and female respondents, and higher life satisfaction among participants who rated their creativity more positively in the self/everyday domain. People who are more creative in building harmonious social relationships and enriching their lives with diverse activities show greater life satisfaction. Differences in self-assessments of creativity in other domains did not prove to be significant for life satisfaction. Additionally, no interaction was found between respondents’ gender and their self-assessments of creativity regarding life satisfaction. Among both male and female respondents, the same pattern of relationship was observed between self-assessments of creativity in the self/everyday domain and life satisfaction: both male and female participants who rated their creativity more positively also reported higher life satisfaction.
